This is breathtakingly beautiful writing my friend! I feel like I'm right there walking along with you. An absolute delight to read and a breath of fresh air for those of us surrounded by concrete.

Ah thank you! That warms my heart so much. I wasn't sure about this piece, it challenged me a lot, so I'm really glad. I always think to myself 'who wants to read about my walks?'

This is so beautiful, Karen. I feel like I am right there. Reading the words feels almost as refreshing as being there. Perhaps more so, for me, as I am so often guilty of not being present on my walks, being lost in thought. Mr Stones (my life and walking companion) is always urging me to look up (from my feet, where I learnt to look as a child).

Thank you! That's so wonderful to hear, that you feel like you're right there.

I have to say, committing hard to this writing thing has made me more observant. Especially writing poetry. I actively go looking for things I can write about. It unfortunately means my phone is quite often in my hand as we walk, but only taking notes so I can write later! Some days though it's nice to look up, always up. Granted, some days I have to because the path is either a swamp or treacherous... But that's another thing.

Great descriptive writing. Nice to journey with you from my sofa and share the sights and sounds. It's been a long time since l did a decent country walk, perhaps too long and l should go again.

I know of the inner peace and joy that the countryside can bring l also know it from the mind of a soldier where beauty is irrelevant but observation is possibly the difference between life and death. In both cases senses are hightened to a level exceeding that of a walk from A to B as a means to an end.

Your description of your observations, the sounds, sights and smells, really fills the readers senses and feeds memories of times past. I loved this piece, it took me back and made me remember that l need to walk again,

Thankyou x

Thank you so much :) I'm glad I could transport you! It's been so wonderful to walk and be writing simultaneously so I can distil the walk into words and capture a part of it forever. There are so many things from these walks (I mentioned 4 separate walks) that I could have focussed on so I've saved those for future posts :)

Nature is definitely medicine. I spend almost my entire walk feeling so much gratitude for living where we live. x

Thank you, that's so wonderful to hear! I'm really glad you enjoyed it :) I wasn't quite sure how it would land. I really struggled to craft it, to be honest! So I appreciate the comments very much :)

Love this. Also I saw an actual weather forecast where they referred to it as sprinkles. As in there will be sprinkles throughout the day 😂

Ha! That's brilliant! I don't think I've ever seen that. There was a point where I was filming yet another stream and the air was genuinely sparkling with sprinkles of rain. I couldn't capture that, they were too fine, but I was totally captivated!
